2 Meatless Meals Everyone Will Love: Lentil Soup and Buckwheat Pancakes | Food

As Vilma Juodkazienė, a food expert from the shopping network “This” quoted in the press release, observes, veganism is often described as a plant-based diet, but it includes much more. Vegans are not just about not eating or using animal products. Veganism is a way of life. Vegans often talk about the benefits of veganism not only for health, but also for the environment.

V. Juodkazienė claims that veganism is far from new. It goes back at least to ancient Greece, but veganism was first introduced in 1944 when Donald Watson founded the first vegan society in England.

Food experts say that some vegans do not eat meat, fish or dairy products, eggs, but also, for example, honey. Vegans also cannot eat some sweets, because many of the most popular mass products contain gelatin, which is made from animal products.

An unexpected combination

Although it may seem that you are not interested, in fact, vegans do not only eat salads or various grains. Vegan, plant-based substitutes for steaks, burger patties, mince, sausage or cheese abound these days. Those who have more time at home can easily make soba, other favorite cereals, legume steak or meatballs.
